It’s a Monday morning on a residential job. Your apprentice is working near the switchboard. There’s a fault. He’s down. You have seconds to make the right call – isolate the supply safely, use your LV rescue kit, get him away from the hazard, check for breathing. Have you practised this recently? Or is your certification just a piece of paper in a folder?

This course makes sure you’re ready for the real thing.

Course Overview

Fully compliant with the Queensland Electrical Safety Act 2002 and Electrical Safety Regulation 2002, this course covers the complete rescue process – from initial hazard identification through to post-incident documentation.

Identify hazards, assess risks, and select the correct rescue equipment.
Safely isolate the power supply and perform a live LV panel rescue.
Administer CPR (per HLTAID009) and manage the casualty until help arrives.
Complete post-rescue documentation and incident reports.

Pre-requisites /Entry Requirements

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

All students completing this course must have moderate English. Further information is provided in the Student Handbook.

Enrolment

All USI information must be completed at least 3 days prior to the course to meet USI verification requirements.
Please note that the RTO Standards have changed from 1st July. A key update is the requirement to complete an Enrolment Check and identify any support needs for each student before the course starts.
This means all participants must be fully enrolled prior to attending the course.

Online Pre-Theory

Theory must be completed at least 24hrs prior to attending your class. Failure to complete theory may result in your booking being cancelled and all monies forfeited. Trainers are provided the class list detailing theory completion results the day prior to class.

Learners will gain immediate access to the theory portal upon completion of their booking and payment, refer to your confirmation email for the link (please check junk mail folders or contact us if not received).

Practical Assessment

Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge.

Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you from getting on the floor. It is a requirement that CPR be performed for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.

Performance Assessment must include:

applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
inspecting and placing rescue equipment
identifying and labelling the isolation point
performing a rescue from a low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace procedures

Factors to Consider

Minimum age for participants is 14 years.
14 to 17 years learners must email or bring signed under 18 years consent form.

Students attending course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.
